Dear Lone Star Parent,
Summer is coming soon, but the learning doesn’t need to stop. Research shows that most children lose 2-3
months of math learning over the summer.
We’re delighted to inform you about a free program offered by TenMarks,
an Amazon Company that will provide your child with access to a powerful,
personalized summer math program designed to help them reverse summer learning
loss.
The program is called TenMarks Summer Math Program and here is how
it works.
1. You can visit http://summer.tenmarks.com
to pre-register for the program.
2. Before summer break, you’ll receive an email with instructions
on how to get started.
3. At the start of the program, your child will receive a short
diagnostic assessment based on the grade s/he is completing.
4. The assessment will be automatically graded and TenMarks will
create a personalized program designed to prepare your child for the upcoming
year.
5. You can create custom rewards to keep your child motivated –
pizza, ice cream, or a trip to the zoo! It’s all up to you!
6. Lone Star will also be rewarding
students for their hard work by entering students into drawings to win prizes
(food coupons, toys, etc…) to the students who complete their weekly
practice. If you would like your child
registered for the weekly drawings please email me by Friday letting me know
they have completed their 1 hour of practice at [email protected].
An hour a week is all it takes for your child to strengthen his/her
math skills, and prepare for the year ahead. The TenMarks Summer Math Program
will guide your child through their personalized program, one topic at a time,
helping them refresh what they know, and learn what they don’t. Each assignment
contains embedded instruction (hints, video lessons, and interventions) to
ensure success.
The 3-month program starts at the end of May. To get started,
pre-register at http://summer.tenmarks.com. Let’s say goodbye
to summer learning loss!
My Husband Tom and I
A little about me....
I have been working in education for the last 25 years, and have enjoyed every minute of it! I have taught in North Dakota, Montana, and here in Idaho for the last 11 years. I have taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I grew up in western North Dakota, and still have strong ties to my family and friends there. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Dickinson State University and my Masters Degree in School Administration from Grand Canyon University. I am currently the Lead Dean of Students, 7-2 Math teacher, and RTI Coordinator.

I have four children Alexia (25)who lives in ND and is a cosmatologist, Brett (22) who is also living in ND, Rachael (19) a freshman at Boise State University and Tianna (17) a senior at Nampa High School. I have one step-daughter, Shauntell and a son-in law Jeff; Shauntell and Jeff have one son, Jonathan who is 5. We love to have Jonathan
visit us, he is so fun and active, he definitley keeps us on our toes! I also have 1 yorkie puppy, her name is Liberty. My husband Tom was born and raised in Northern Idaho, and works for Micron. We are big BSU football fans at our house (Go Broncos!) and attend all the games we can. I love to attend my kids' events, cheer for the Broncos, snow ski, travel, quilt, sew, swim, camp, golf, spend time at the lake, and ride my scooter; but my favorite way to spend my time is to be with my family and friends.
